grammy (dis) R.E.S.P.E.C.T

Aretha Franklin has apparently not taken kindly to someone other than her being referred to as the ‘Queen of Soul’.

The incident in question took place at the 2008 Grammys ceremony , when Beyonce whilst introducing Tina Turner on stage apparently said……

‘there is one legend who has the essence of all those things – the glamour, the soul, the passion, the strength, the talent; Ladies and Gentlemen, stand on your feet and give it up for the queen’.

R.e.s.p.e.c.t song legend ‘Ree’ issued a statement via her publicist ..’ I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce. However I dismiss it as a cheap shot for controversy’ .

Showing a touch of class in her critic she ended by thanking the voting academy for her tie in the best gospel performance category for her duet with Mary J Blige and sending ‘love to Beyonce anyway’.

What was Beyonce thinking ?…any music fan (never mind the only current vocalist aside from Jill Scott or Ledisi who MIGHT one day take over the crown ) who thinks Aretha is not the ‘Queen of Soul’ now and probably forever – needs to book themselves in for a VERY deep ear canal cleaning prompto !!
