so when you heard beyonce was playing etta james in this film about one of the most important record labels in black music , chess records - what did you think ?

saw her do a good job in the broadway to big screen adaption of dreamgirls , but gotta say her portrayal of the fiesty female ms james , was up another notch !

the story of how leonard chess, a polish immigrant to the chicago area of america in the 50’s, set up and gave birth to the career’s of legends like etta james, muddy waters and chuck berry proves as compelling on film as it is on the many hit discs the label unleashed .

must also mention mos def and gabrielle union well acted roles
